Pop Filters - “Popper Stoppers” is a fine mesh that is placed in front of the mic to reduce the popping sound when vocalizing the harsh explosive “puh” sound on the letter P and the hard “ssss” on the letter S.
Other Types of Microphones
Wireless - Operates via a transmitter and offers convenience and mobility without the use of a mic cable.
The signal in wireless microphones is transmitted using radio waves (Radio Frequency or RF) or InfraRed (IR)- Another type of transmission signal .
The former is often called FM wireless and has two distinct ranges of government approved frequencies: VHF (Very High Frequency) and UHF (Ultra High Frequency).
Using The Right Microphone
Vocals - Dynamic Mic for handheld or a Condenser for “close mic” situations.
Drums - Dynamic Mic on Kick, Snare and Toms, Condenser for Cymbals
Guitar & Bass - Dynamic Mic (Mic the amplifier)
Horns - Dynamic Mic
Piano - Two Condensers, one for treble strings and one for lower strings
Electronic Keyboards - Dynamic (Mic the amplifier)
