Active=Powered

Sound Reinforcement PA (Public Address) speakers are called
The mains or house speakers and are used
As the primary speakers for projecting sound
To the audience.


Studio Monitors

Studio Monitors - Designed for recording studio. 

Smaller in design and are meant for close quarters listening.
(Near-field).


Stage Monitors

Stage Monitors - Designed to provide sound for the performers on the stage. 

Two types:
Floor monitors -Wedge shaped and placed
On the floor and directed upward towards the
Performer.
Side-fill monitors - Speakers are placed
On the side of the stage to provide a general mix for the entire group.
